The Christmas season is officially upon us, friends! This time of year is my absolute favorite (other than the bitter coldness that is Wisconsin weather). My husband Tyler and I both love to give gifts, so we love going Christmas shopping together to find the perfect gifts for the people we love. My favorite part is seeing the look on the person’s face when they open the gift. It’s priceless! Having a 1-year-old niece and 4-year-old nephew makes the holiday even more magical.
Today, I’m going to share a step-by-step tutorial on how to make the perfect stocking for the man in your life. I’m going to be focusing on my husband, but please feel free to take my general suggestions and customize them to fit the personality/hobbies of your husband/boyfriend/father/brother/cousin/friend. Let’s do this!
STEP ONE | Find a stocking.
I found my stocking for Tyler in the Christmas section of Walmart and it’s your run-of-the-mill style. Wanna know why I picked this one? Because I know that he’ll care more about what’s inside instead of the receptacle it came in. 🙂 What he really wants is one like this, but maybe that’ll be another surprise for Christmas morning.
STEP TWO | Something practical.
For my husband, I chose a traditional shaving brush and safety razor. He loves traditional shaving, so this is perfect for him. He also just joined a crossfit-type gym and is doing more weightlifting than usual (since high school, at least!) and wanted some wrist braces, so I indulged him. For the man in your life, think of something that they’ll use at work or something they’ll use on an everyday basis to make their life easier (i.e. flashlight, pocket knife, watch, wireless mouse, etc).
STEP THREE | Something fun.
For this step, I chose some bullets, a shot glass, and a shooting magazine. What can I say, the man loves shooting guns! He has such a fun time going to the shooting range to work on his aim, but has a hard time spending the money on ammunition for himself. This way, he can go have fun with a friend (or me!) at the range for an hour or so.
Tyler doesn’t drink much (and rarely does shots!), but he likes collecting shot glasses, so I thought I’d add one to his collection. He also likes shooting magazines, but will rarely buy them for himself. When choosing something for this step, think of your guy’s hobbies and find something that will help him have fun.
STEP FOUR | Something to eat.
AKA my favorite step. I got some Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups in the traditional candy cane container, because, duh. But by far my favorite part of the stocking… THE SLIM JIMS!
You might not know this about me, but my favorite gas station/convenience store snack is Slim Jims. I pretty much can’t leave a gas station without buying one. Heck, I got them for my birthday this year! Tyler and I aren’t huge fans of sweet snacks (the Reese’s will probably last us a month), but savory/salty are right up our alley. It’s something different than the regular chips or candy.
Walmart has the perfect 26-pack of minis for gift giving. I like that you could give a couple to several people, or you could just choose to save them all for one person (but let’s be real… I’m probably going to be the one eating all these).
What’s your guy’s guilty pleasure snack? Chips, cookies, chocolate, trail mix? Throw some of that in and then get the man some Slim Jims!
There you have it, y’all. Short and sweet. Hopefully I made your Christmas season a little bit easier with this step-by-step guide! I know that I take all the help I can get this time of year to make my life easier.
