How far along are you? 40 weeks on November 6. Happy due date to me!
How big is baby? The size of a small watermelon. That’s about 20 inches and 7.5 pounds. But, of course, we won’t know that until he’s actually here. 😉 Tyler seems to think he’ll be 10 pounds, but I hiiiiiighly doubt that. I’m guessing around 7. According to my app, baby is continuing to grow hair and nails and develop his lungs.
How are you feeling? I’m ready to be done. That feeling is now overwhelming my nerves about the whole labor and delivery process, so that means a lot. I’m uncomfortable almost all the time, but I’m thankful that I’m still able to get a good night’s sleep. I’ve had a few “real” contractions that have been like period cramps, so nothing unbearable, but also nothing consistent.
Movement: He’s still moving around often, but not as much as before – probably because he doesn’t have much room! His movements are a little more subtle, which I appreciate because then he’s not kicking me in the ribs and hipbones as often!
Any cravings or aversions? One consistent craving this whole time has been sugar. Tyler and I went to Walmart the other night around 9pm just so I could buy some brownie mix because I wanted some really fudgy brownies. It was so worth it. 🙂 Other than that, nothing else. I’m kind of disappointed that I didn’t really have any weird cravings!
Nursery Progress: We’re pretty much done! I loooove that room so much. Tyler says it’s the coolest room in the house and he’s probably right. The only thing we really have left to do is finish the pallet wall that Tyler is building, find some curtains, make some photo ledges to use as book displays, and keep an eye out for some cute artwork. All “extra” things that don’t need to be done anytime soon, but will be fun!
Weight Gain / Stretch Marks: At my 40-week appointment, I had gained a total of 21 pounds. Still no stretch marks. That’s thanks to my mom’s good genes because I’ve only been remembering to use my body butter after I take a shower. Oops!
Sleep: I still have random nights that I’m awake for a couple hours in the middle of the night, but it doesn’t happen very often. I’m so thankful that I’ve still been able to get a good night of sleep the majority of the time. I love sleep so much! I’m definitely savoring it while I can.
Looking forward to: Not being pregnant anymore. Actually having a baby. The anticipation being over with. Not wondering if every ache or pain is a contraction. Maternity leave.
Doctor Appointment: Today was my 40-week appointment and I’m technically 40 weeks + 3 days. My doctor checked my cervix and it’s thinning out, but I’m not dilated at all. I have had a few random contractions, but nothing painful or consistent. She suggested waiting to see what happens over the weekend and then coming in for an appointment on Monday morning to make a plan for what to do next. If nothing happens by then, we’ll schedule an induction, which I don’t really want to do, but at this point, I don’t really care much.
