How far along are you? 26 weeks on July 31. Time is starting to fly by!

How big is baby? The size of a head of kale. 🍃🌿 That’s about 14 inches at 1.7 pounds. The biggest way I can picture that in my head is that now sometimes when he moves, I can feel it simultaneously on opposite ends of my belly. It’s so weird and cool! I feel like this week I really started showing. I mean, you could tell I was pregnant before, but now you can really tell in my opinion.

How are you feeling? Pretty achy most of the time. My ribs are sore, which is the most annoying because the only way I can alleviate it is to stand. Sitting and lying down makes it worse. My lower back is starting to get tighter, so I’m trying to stretch more and more often (something I’ve always been bad at doing). I’ve also had acid reflux almost every day. There doesn’t really seem to be anything specific that triggers it because I’ve tried keeping track to see if it’s just spicy, acidic, etc. foods, but there’s really no correlation.

Movement: Baby boy is movin’ and groovin’ pretty much all day long. There are stretches of an hour or two at a time when he’s still, but that’s about it. He hasn’t prohibited my sleep yet or woken me up in the middle of the night, though, so that’s good!

Any cravings or aversions? This week I had a craving for my dad’s homemade pickles. And then I got a text from my mom saying they had a batch ready for us! 🎉 I can’t stop eating them. I feel like such a stereotype! Haha. In general, I’ve just been eating a lot. And not feeling guilty about it at all. 😉

Maternity Clothes: I’ve been still wearing most of my regular tops. Even the shirts that I’ve bought for “maternity” wear will be perfect for post-baby. Yay for being cost effective! Still loving my maternity jeans, leggings, and dresses. I thought that I would hate being pregnant in the summertime because of the heat, but it’s pretty nice because I don’t have to worry about layering like I would if it was fall/winter.

Maternity Leave: Tyler and I have been talking more about my maternity leave and what my work life will look like after baby is here. Here’s what we’ve come up with so far, in case you’re interested. I do plan to work still after kids. That’s always been my goal. Being a full-time stay-at-home mom was never on my mind. I’ll be working up until I give birth, basically. Because I have an office job, there’s a lot of sitting and not a lot of physical activity, so I’m not worried about working that late in pregnancy at this point. I plan to take 8 weeks off of work, so that will be through the new year. When I come back, my hours will be reduced somehow, but I’ll still be in the office in some capacity. Tyler and I both want me home as much as possible with baby while still maintaining an out of the house job. It’ll all fall in to place, I’m sure!

What have we been up to?

Van and I shot another wedding! This time I had to drive down to Milwaukee. The ceremony and reception were in the most gorgeous venue in the Third Ward and it was a really fun day. It was long, but events were pretty spread out, so there was some downtime that was nice. I didn’t feel overly sore or tired throughout the day. It helped that I kept snacks with me and then ate a ton during the dinner. 😉

I got a second job! I haven’t announced this anywhere else, but here’s the long-story-short of it all: I’m now the Editorial Manager for She Can Coterie! She Can is a virtual assistant company that employs a handful of ladies (and hopefully more and more as we grow!) that is going to be offering editorial services in the coming weeks. If you didn’t already know, I have a degree in English and my emphasis was editing and publishing, so I’ll be working closely with boss lady Mandi on developing this department and keeping it running. I’m not quitting my day job, though. This will be something that I do after work hours and on the weekends. I’m so excited about it! (I’ll be writing an update post on just this soon!)

We spent a day at a water park! I grew up going to Noah’s Ark in the Wisconsin Dells with my family almost every summer, but it kind of petered out once my older siblings were in college and had summer jobs. Now that my nephew is old enough to go on most of the rides, we went for the day and had a blast! My immediate family as well as my cousin Courtney and her kids came. I spent the day walking around waiting for them while they went on rides, napping in the sun, reading, and riding the lazy river. Only my whole face and chest got sunburnt. Haha! Small price to pay for lots of fun.

That’s about it for this update! It feels like just yesterday that I was writing my very first one, but here we are. If you want to read some past updates, here they are.
