Pregnancy Update: 23-24 Weeks

How far along are you? 24 weeks on July 17! The fact that I am turning 24 while 24 weeks pregnant is so satisfying to me (my birthday is on the 20th). 😉

How big is baby? A cantaloupe, which seems huge to me! That’s about 11.8 inches and 1.3 pounds. I’m starting to feel more of the aches and pains associated with my growing belly, which isn’t as fun, but I already knew it would be par for the course. My belly is noticeable in basically everything I wear now (unless it’s something like an oversized sweatshirt), but it still isn’t huge, so I’ve been starting to get looks from people who aren’t quite sure if I’m preggo or not. It’s kind of hilarious!

How are you feeling? Like I said above, I’ve been having more aches and pains the last couple of weeks. Most noticeably, my ribs have been achy, which I’ve never had before. It’ll usually happen after I’ve been sitting for too long, so getting up and moving around or leaning my upper body back in my chair usually helps a little bit. I got woken up twice one night this week from cramps in my calves (one in each leg) for the second time since I’ve been pregnant. These cramps are no joke, y’all. I was literally whimpering and almost cried and the next morning they were so stiff. I’ve also had some mild heartburn with some foods, but nothing too bad.

Movement: He’s movin’ all the time now! A couple weeks ago I could pretty much only feel him when I was sitting still or lying down, but now it’s strong enough that I can feel him when I’m walking around or doing other things. It’s strong enough now too that my belly moves around like crazy sometimes and it cracks me up! I can’t wait until it’s even crazier. 😜

Weight Gain: As of my 24 week appointment, I’ve gained about 3 pounds. I’m measuring right on track and baby is healthy, so I’m going to keep up what I’m doing!

Any cravings or aversions? I still have a pretty big sweet tooth. I’ve also been eating Culver’s regular garden salad with buffalo tenders and ranch all the time. Could be worse, right? In general, sweet things and spicy things have been my go to (the spicy doesn’t necessarily help with the heartburn I mentioned above). I had some jalapenos that I needed to use up the other day, so I pickled them and have been snacking on one or two every time I open the fridge. YUM.

Any maternity clothes? I’ve ditched my non-maternity jeans for good at this point and am only wearing full-panel maternity jeans, maternity leggings, maxi skirts, maxi dresses, flowy tops, and bodycon dresses. I’m all about the comfort at this point! I love that maternity jeans make wearing jeans super comfy. Life. Is. Good. I’m thinking about getting a belly support band/brace because I can already tell that I’ll be wanting one.

My most recent maternity closet acquisition is the top in the first picture of this post from PinkBlush. It’s so comfy, super cute, and definitely will still be worn by me after baby is born! I love the color and have gotten tons of compliments on it.

What have we been up to?

Van and I shot another wedding! This one was so fun! It was the cousin of a former bride of ours (a friend of mine from college), so we were familiar with the family and that makes it even more comfortable. It was at a “petting farm” in the Appleton, WI area, which means they have tons of animals that you can go into the enclosures and pet. So we got to run around with some goats and sheep while everyone was eating dinner, which I’m a huge fan of. I felt pretty good most of the day, but it was a lot of walking, so I was feeling that by the end of the day. Overall, it was really great. Can’t wait to share some pictures here!

Van texted me this week and asked me how far along I’d be in September because we got another inquiry for a wedding and I said HECK YEAH let’s do it! Why not, right? Everyone who sees me will be sympathetic, which is totally my jam. 😉 Gotta get that cash money for maternity leave!

I got to spend some time with my younger sister, niece, and nephew. My niece & nephew were staying at my parents house for almost a week and my sister was getting stir crazy watching them by herself for the fourth day in a row, so they took a little trip to Auntie Leah’s for a few hours! We went to the park near my house, ate some pizza, watched part of Lilo & Stitch, and then drove them home. They’re definitely fireballs!

I was approved for a breast pump through my insurance provider. How exciting, right? 😉 It actually really is because those suckers are expensive. I worked with Aeroflow Breast Pumps and the process was so smooth and easy. They contacted my insurance, got a prescription from my doctors, and I could order directly through them. I’ll be writing a post about them a little later once I have everything! I’m glad that this is one more thing that I can check off my list early instead of waiting until closer to my due date.

I celebrated my 24th birthday! Like I said above, I celebrated my 24th birthday while 24 weeks pregnant, which is very satisfying. I’m putting together a post about how I celebrated that will go live later, but it included lots of food, too much shopping, and some work on the nursery! I couldn’t ask for much more, honestly. Can’t wait to share more of the nursery! I’ll be sharing sneak peeks along the way on my Instagram.
