Guess what? I’m pregnant!

Yep, you read that correctly! Tyler and I are super excited to announce that Baby Van Ert will be making his or her appearance around early November. Now that the initial shock has worn off and it’s not a secret anymore, I’m even more excited. We weren’t planning on saying something this week (I’m 11 weeks now and we were planning on waiting ’til the 12 week mark), but Tyler is to antsy to keep a secret anymore, so I gave in. 😉

This is one of the biggest reasons why I haven’t been super active here on the blog or on social media – because I mostly just go home after work, put on my pajamas, and watch Cops until I pass out. What a life, right?

Here’s the “finding out” story. I had tweeted about being really tired and wanting Flamin’ Hot Cheetos (both are not out of character for me at all – haha!) and one of my best friends Fayth messaged me, joking, asking if I was pregnant. I literally laughed and then said “Haha, no… just a teenage boy.”

But then I put my phone down and thought… “Well. Let me just take a test quick to 100% make sure.” For some reason, I thought that there was no way. I didn’t feel any different, for one thing. So I took the test and went about my morning while waiting for the results and glanced at it, thinking it would just get tossed, but I was seriously so shocked to read “pregnant.”

I sat there for a minute and just stared, then I went in our bedroom to tell Tyler. He was on night shift that week, so he was in a dead sleep. Since he rotates shifts and doesn’t sleep well in general, we have a rule that I don’t wake him up unless it’s an actual emergency, so I walked in and said “I know you told me never to wake you up, but…” and showed him the positive test.

He just squinted at it and said, “You’re pregnant?” to which I replied, “ALLEGEDLY.” Then he kissed me and promptly fell back asleep. I had to go out of town for something and a couple hours later when he woke up, he texted me and said something along the lines of, “I don’t remember if it was a dream or not… did you tell me this morning that you’re pregnant?” YUP, SURE DID.

This whole time, I’ve been writing pregnancy updates that I just put live. So you can go back and read the 8 week update and the 10 week update. I plan to post an update every 2 weeks or so, so get ready for that!

I’m so excited to share this journey with all of you. Seriously. Any questions? Ask away in the comments!

About Leah Van Ert

Leah is newly wed to her high school sweetheart and is a church secretary by day and blogger by night. She firmly believes in spending a little extra on high-quality cuisine, sleeping in, and the healing power of a good cup of tea. She currently lives in central Wisconsin where she was born and raised (and, yes, the stereotype is true - we really do love cheese).
